Whatcha Readin’?

So, what has everyone been reading lately? I go through spurts where all I want to do is read. Dishes pile up, the laundry baskets overflow, and cat hair multiplies and settles on everything. I just sit in my chair with my favorite beverage on hand and read. There was a time when 10-12 books a week was the norm for me. Sadly, I have job now. My idea of the perfect =vacation is lots of time to do nothing but read. Do you ever do that?
Entreat MeI do manage to squeeze some reading time in. Here are some of the books I’ve read lately:

1.  Entreat Me by Grace Draven  This retelling of Beauty and the Beast is highly original, with excellent writing and fascinating characters. I loved it.

Clean Sweep

2. Clean Sweep by Ilona Andrews  A wonderful fantasy story by a favorite (pair of) author(s). I will read anything by Ilona Andrews, and like. This one was a lot of fun.

Into the Light

3. I’ve been reading all of Ellen O’Connell’s backlist. She writes stirring American West romance. I haven’t loved all of them the same, but they’re all well written. My favorite is probably Eyes of Silver, Eyes of Gold, although Beautiful Bad Man and Dancing on Coals were excellent as well. I just finished Into the Light, which I loved.  Now I’ve finished all her romances and I’m walking around in circles, wanting another one. Sigh.

So what have you been reading? I have to put a hold on more reading for a while. I was really struggling with Chapter 4 of Mel and Snake’s story, but I brought it to my local critique group, the Word Weavers, and they they gave me good suggestions for where to improve it. I have done the re-write, and I’m a lot happier now. So tonight I’m going to start Chapter 5 of Wolf’s Vengeance, and write the next installment of Sand’s story. Poor Sand. Last week I left him frantic to find his mate. I better go and set him off on his search. 🙂

  • I signed up for the Goodreads reading challenge with a goal of 100 books again this year. So far, I’m doing pretty good, with six books finished and another started. This time last year I was already a couple books behind, but have managed to stay one ahead so far this year. Probably because I’ve been sick (upper resp. infection) and haven’t felt like doing much. I’ve read two Sherlock Holmes books — A Study in Scarlet and The Hound of the Baskervilles, Dance Upon the Air by Nora, and the rest have been rom-suspense. The current one is The Widow by Carla Neggers.

    • sorry you’ve been sick. Sometimes those respiratory infections take forever to clear up. Hope you heal up quick!

  • My favorite time to read is from 2am to 6am. Everyone is sleeping. The house is quiet and I can just read in perfect peace.

    • I’m a natural night owl. It’s all too easy for me to stay up to all hours writing or reading. Too bad the day job goes from 7am to 4 pm.

  • Doing a re-read on Shelly Laurenston’s shifters in preparation for the new one that is coming out(not soon enough)! And waiting for your next one(hint, hint). Love those shifter stories, so keep them coming 🙂

  • The Fantasy Land series by Kristen Ashley. AWESOME! As well as the Her Russian Protector series. WOW is it ever Hot! I have to fill up my time while waiting for you next book somehow.

    • The Golden Dynasty was the first Kristen Ashley I read. I thought it was pretty gritty and original. And I just finished Ivan a couple weeks ago. I think the rest of Roxy Rivera’s series is going to have to go on the wishlist!
